Based In Melbourne Australia, Za Dezign is founded by Alexandra Crocker, a self taught textile artist whose passion for leather began on an unassuming day of fortuitous luck. Finding an antique suitcase filled with abandoned leather pieces on the side of a St Kilda side street, Alexandra teamed a recently gleaned horse bit with these random scraps and voila! Her first belt.
Such was the acclaim and swagger acquired that many more have since followed suit, creating the gentle metamorphosis that is now known as Za Dezign.
Maintaining production locally, Za is able to offer customers custom made designs by appointment, ensuring each accessory piece is a perfect fit and as individual and unique as its owner.
Za meticulously creates to softly accentuate the female form, to sexily assert with striking style. Aspects of the Victorian era, antique textile, medieval buckle, ancient tribal archetype and elements of costume from traditional dance form can be discovered in each unique leather accessory.
Leathers are chosen for their high quality and the unique properties they attribute to each piece, with strong foundations in recycled ethos. Za features exotic Australian leather, honouring the Emu, Barramundi, Kangaroo and Crocodile, to expand boundaries and evoke memories of our original landscape with beautiful and enduring designs.
